AFYREN and Esse Skincare have initiated a partnership to produce 100% natural skincare solutions featuring bio-based propionic acid. This collaboration marks the first application of bio-based propionic acid in the skincare industry, offering new potential for skin health and sustainable cosmetic solutions.
Propionic acid, a vital short-chain fatty acid, plays a crucial role in maintaining skin microbiome balance, supporting inflammation modulation and barrier resilience. Traditionally sourced from petrochemicals, it is now available in a sustainable form through AFYREN's fermentation technology.
The partnership enables Esse Skincare to utilize AFYREN's COSMOS-certified bio-based propionic acid, produced at the AFYREN NEOXY facility in France. This introduces a unique, low-carbon alternative to the market, reinforcing the importance of biotechnology in enhancing cosmetic formulations.
