Air Liquide Signs Record PPAs to Boost Low-Carbon Energy Use
In 2024, Air Liquide made strides in its low-carbon energy initiative by signing significant power purchase agreements (PPAs) across Asia, Europe, and South America. These agreements will supply over 2,500 GWh of low-carbon electricity annually, effective from January 2025. This effort is part of Air Liquide's push towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The PPAs, spanning key regions such as China, France, and Argentina, will reduce Air Liquide’s CO2 emissions by over 1.2 million tonnes each year. Additionally, these agreements will support the growth of new decarbonized technologies, including projects in France and Germany.
Diana Schillag, an executive at Air Liquide, emphasized the importance of low-carbon electricity in reducing emissions and providing low-carbon solutions for customers. The initiative underscores Air Liquide’s commitment to its decarbonization roadmap, which includes modernizing assets and deploying carbon capture technologies.
