Allnex Awarded EU Product Safety Award for PFAS-Free Innovations

Allnex has secured the EU Product Safety Award from the European Commission. This accolade underscores Allnex's proactive elimination of PFAS-containing additives, surpassing legal expectations to enhance consumer and environmental safety. By 2024, Allnex eradicated all PFAS additives, showcasing high-performance coatings without persistent chemicals.

PFAS, known for environmental persistence and health risks, are still legally allowed in various applications. Rainer Blaha, Business VP of additives, emphasized Allnex's commitment to adopting sustainable chemistry, moving beyond minimum regulations.

Allnex's transition produced 18 million liters of PFAS-free coatings in the EU and 37 million liters globally, reducing chemical exposure and ecological impact. Their high-performance alternatives prioritize non-toxic raw materials, avoiding regrettable substitutions.

The recognition marks Allnex as an industry leader, encouraging others to adopt proactive safety measures and sustainable practices, aligning with ecolabels like the EU Ecolabel and Nordic Swan.
