Alstom Secures €915 Million Contract for Belgrade's First Automated Metro

Alstom has obtained a €915 million contract for Belgrade’s Metro Line 1, marking a significant development in Serbia's urban mobility. This project involves a complete metro system, including 32 Metropolis trains. It promises to cut surface congestion, boosting Belgrade’s connectivity and economic appeal.

The first phase of the metro, spanning 15 km with 15 stations, will connect Makiško Polje to Karaburma. The venture aims to offer a reliable transit alternative, supporting Belgrade's long-term growth and climate goals.

Alstom's advanced Urbalis CBTC technology will underpin the fully automated operations. French government funding emphasizes robust France-Serbia bilateral cooperation. Line 1's introduction of driverless technology promises increased frequency and safety, benefiting nearly two million residents.
