ALSTOM wins a contract for 47 trains in Mexico
Alstom, a major player in sustainable mobility, has signed a contract with the Mexican Rail Transport Regulatory Agency to supply 47 trains and maintain them for five years. This project is part of Mexico's 2025-2030 National Development Plan, reinforcing the crucial role of railways in the country.
The contract, worth approximately €920 million, also includes the creation of maintenance infrastructure and staff training. Production will take place primarily in Mexico, with local content exceeding 76%, thus boosting the local economy.
The trains, known as "Trenes del Norte", will be state-of-the-art with speeds reaching up to 165 km/h. Their design is inspired by Mexican culture and identity, reflecting the modernity and innovation of the project.
