Sunrise Wind Project Construction Resumes Following Court Injunction

Ørsted A/S announced that the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has granted a preliminary injunction, allowing the Sunrise Wind Project to resume construction. This legal development follows the 22 December 2025 suspension order from the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which the injunction now temporarily overrides. As litigation over the BOEM decision continues, Sunrise Wind, a subsidiary of Ørsted A/S, is exploring cooperative strategies with the US Administration for a lasting solution.

Construction activities for the Sunrise Wind Project, aimed at supplying affordable and reliable power to New York, will restart swiftly with an emphasis on safety. Ørsted views this decision as a positive step towards advancing its offshore wind energy initiatives in the United States.
