The Swiss car market is mixed despite growth
In October 2026, the new car market in Switzerland grew by 2.9%, with 18,986 registrations. While this figure is positive, it remains below the European average, which saw an increase of approximately 6% over the year. The Swiss annual figures show a limited increase of 2.7%, indicating an insufficient recovery.
Electric mobility is progressing strongly, with a 30.5% increase in electric car registrations. These now represent 27.1% of new registrations. Despite this trend, the overall Swiss market remains weak, affected by strict CO₂ regulations, unlike the relaxation observed in Europe.
