Commerzbank Achieves Record Profit in 2024, Sets Ambitious Targets for 2028

Commerzbank has reported a substantial boost in its 2024 financial results, surpassing its annual targets. The net result rose by 20% to approximately €2.7 billion, with operating results improving by 12% to reach €3.8 billion. Revenue growth was driven by strong customer business, elevating revenues by 6% to €11.1 billion. Despite cuts in interest rates, net interest remained robust at €8.3 billion. The cost-income ratio improved to 59%, and the return on tangible equity stood at 9.2%, well above the 8% target.

Looking ahead, Commerzbank aims to achieve a 15% return on tangible equity by 2028, with projected net results target of €4.2 billion. The bank's strategy focuses on enhancing its growth in asset and wealth management, leveraging digitalization, and expanding its international presence. Commerzbank plans a 100% payout ratio from 2025 onwards, subject to successful strategic implementation and a favorable economic environment.
