Hans-Joachim Watzke Steps Down as Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund

Hans-Joachim Watzke has stepped down as managing director and chairman of Borussia Dortmund Geschäftsführungs-GmbH. This decision was announced during the annual general meeting of Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund. Watzke's resignation is effective immediately, aligning with his earlier declaration not to extend his contract, which was set to expire at the end of 2025.

In a subsequent development, Watzke has been elected president of BVB e.V. He will lead the new executive board alongside Vice President Daniel Lörcher and Treasurer Silke Seidel. Following Watzke's departure from managing director duties, the board will see Carsten Cramer, Thomas Treß, and Lars Ricken continuing their roles until mid-2027.

The Presidential Committee of the Advisory Board will discuss the reallocation of responsibilities within BVB Geschäftsführungs-GmbH's management. Updates on any decisions will be provided to the public.
