Sino-European engagement: towards constructive AI governance

As artificial intelligence redefines global relations, an unprecedented consensus emerged between Europe and China at the Europe Forum, held in Paris and Brussels under the auspices of the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Leaders urged a move beyond rivalry towards strengthened cooperation in AI governance.

Charles Michel, former President of the European Council, emphasized the sovereignty issue linked to AI, affirming the importance of semiconductors and data security. Europe, with its strong regulatory capacity, and China, a pioneer in AI applications, are urged to join forces.

Industry experts, such as Siemens and EDF, have supported this vision of proactive collaboration, particularly in the face of the energy challenges posed by AI, envisioning enhanced cooperation in the fields of technological innovation and renewable energy.
