Dormakaba Launches Access System Pilot in Arctic Ice Hotel

dormakaba has initiated a unique pilot project at Sorrisniva, the world's northernmost ice hotel, located in Alta, Norway. This project aims to test innovative access systems in extreme Arctic conditions. The project focuses on systems designed to minimize energy use and maintain reliable performance under harsh weather. Key areas within the resort, including the Arctic Wilderness Lodge restaurant and the ice hotel entrance, are covered by these new installations.

CEO Till Reuter emphasizes the challenge of operating in such conditions, noting the potential to set new benchmarks for engineering efficiency and resilience. Technologies like MotionIQ, which can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 50%, are part of the trial.
