ECW Allocates $3.5 Million for Emergency Education in Bangladesh

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) has announced a $3.5 million grant aimed at addressing the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. This initiative is set to benefit 180,000 children in Cox's Bazar, the site of the world's largest refugee camp. The grant is managed by UNICEF and supported by local partners like CODEC and BRAC, among others.

The program will enhance access to inclusive education within safe environments. UNICEF's Representative, Rana Flowers, emphasized the grant's importance as more than educational provision, viewing it as a beacon of hope for the children's future. This comes amid a decline in humanitarian aid, which threatens educational progress in the region.

Currently, over 3,600 educational facilities remain closed in Bangladesh, and only half of the required funding for crisis response has been mobilized.
