Electrovaya Joins U.S. Department of Energy Project to Enhance Energy Storage
Electrovaya Inc., a lithium-ion battery technology firm, announced its involvement in a U.S. Department of Energy-funded project. Led by Binghamton University, the initiative aims to develop a next-generation energy storage system for data centers, with a $5 million grant supporting the project under the Critical Facility Energy Resilience program.
The project will involve the deployment of a 1.2 MWh battery system at Binghamton University's Center for Energy-Smart Electronic Systems. Electrovaya will contribute its Infinity Battery Technology, recognized for its safety and extended cycle life, to support this mission-critical application.
This collaboration integrates expertise from multiple partners, including LiiON, Eaton, and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, focusing on safety, scalability, and the use of domestic supply chains. It underscores the importance of advancing energy storage solutions in response to increasing energy demands driven by AI and digital infrastructure.
