Energiekontor AG Expands Portfolio with New Solar Park Launch

Energiekontor AG has commenced operations at its newly completed Königsfeld solar park. Located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the park has a nominal output of around 4.6 megawatts. It is expected to generate approximately 5.5 million kilowatt hours annually, providing renewable electricity for around 1,700 homes and potentially reducing CO2 emissions by 3,800 tonnes per year. The project contributes to the expansion of Energiekontor's park portfolio, increasing total capacity to 450 megawatts.

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG supports sustainable energy in the chemical sector, aligning with both companies' sustainability strategies. Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor, emphasized the strategic importance of the continuous expansion of the company's own electricity generation capabilities. Currenta will use the green energy to support its chemical park sites, enhancing their environmental sustainability.

This launch follows the earlier commissioning of the Letschin solar park in 2025, continuing Energiekontor's efforts in diversifying and strengthening its renewable energy portfolio. Seven additional parks with a capacity of 200 megawatts are in progress, potentially expanding the company's portfolio to 650 megawatts.
