Outokumpu City Council Approves Zoning for Hautalampi Project

The Outokumpu City Council has approved the detailed zoning plan for Eurobattery Minerals AB's Hautalampi battery mineral project in Finland. This marks the final step in the zoning process, providing the necessary framework for building permits. The approval signals strong local support and reduces risks associated with the project.

CEO Roberto García Martínez highlighted the project's alignment with sustainability and transparency commitments, emphasizing its role in securing critical raw materials for Europe. The decision follows a City Council plenary and aligns with Finland's sustainable mining objectives. It also offers a 30-day appeal period for the decision.

Ilari Kinnunen, Managing Director of FinnCobalt, praised the decision, seeing it as a step towards developing a sustainable domestic source of battery minerals, in line with Finland's updated Mining Act.
