ZEISS Vision Care Acquires Stake in Ocumeda to Enhance Tele-Ophthalmology Platform

ZEISS Vision Care has announced its acquisition of a 10% stake in Ocumeda, Europe's leading tele-ophthalmology platform, valued at €100 million. The investment from Fielmann Group aims to expand Ocumeda's services across Europe. This strategic move highlights ZEISS's commitment to improving visual health accessibility.

Ocumeda connects 300,000 patients with 700 optical retail stores and ophthalmologists. ZEISS plans to increase its stake to 25% to further strengthen its presence in the eye care sector. This partnership aligns with ZEISS's focus on innovative medical technologies to make eye care more accessible.

Fielmann Group's CEO, Marc Fielmann, emphasized that this collaboration supports their Vision 2035 strategy, focusing on accessible primary eyecare. Ocumeda's founder, Benedikt Wiechers, anticipates the investment will accelerate the platform's market expansion and address global eye care shortages.
