Forsee Power and Wabtec Join Forces for Battery-Electric Locomotives
Forsee Power has announced a collaboration with Wabtec to integrate advanced battery systems into battery-electric locomotive platforms. Wabtec, a leader in rail equipment, unveiled the first battery-electric freight locomotive in 2021, marking a significant step in rail electrification. This partnership aims to enhance locomotive performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding focused on implementing Forsee Power’s PULSE PLUS RAIL battery systems. These systems, built on Toshiba's LTO cells, promise a 20-year lifespan and support fast charging. They are designed for durability, performance, and safety, meeting stringent industry standards.
Forsee Power manufactures these systems across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America, ensuring compliance with Buy America regulations. The collaboration aims to boost operational efficiency and create new opportunities, particularly in mining truck applications.
