GeoSAT Joins the SDG Data Alliance as First European Partner

GeoSAT, a European Earth Observation satellite operator, has joined the SDG Data Alliance, marking a significant partnership. This coalition is committed to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States. The agreement, signed with the PVBLIC Foundation, was finalized during the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

This partnership grants GeoSAT access to provide satellite data to over 3,000 islands across nearly 40 island states. By delivering very high resolution satellite images, GeoSAT will support land management, agriculture, forestry, coastal monitoring, and emergency responses. This initiative allows island nations to access advanced capabilities otherwise unavailable to them independently.

Since 2023, GeoSAT has been active in this domain, including supporting the Maldives Space Research Organisation. GeoSAT CEO Francisco Vilhena da Cunha emphasized the importance of satellite images for climate change adaptation and social development, affirming the company's commitment to leveraging space technology for these purposes.
