Grande Portage Resources Sees Success in Initial Backfill Testing

Grande Portage Resources Ltd. announced successful results from preliminary strength tests on backfill materials for the New Amalga Gold property near Juneau, Alaska. The cemented rockfill (CRF) samples met or surpassed the threshold for the primary mining technique, overhand longhole stoping.

Laboratory tests utilized 4% cement binder in samples from previous drilling. Plans are underway to incorporate waste and reject rock for CRF backfill use. The company will conduct further tests with higher cement content for secondary mining needs, such as underhand stoping.

This strategy supports a low-impact mine design, reducing surface disturbance and environmental liabilities. Geochemical analyses of core samples continue to assess potential long-term reactivity issues.
