HD Advanced Technologies and PHENOGY Collaborate on Sodium-Ion Battery Platform
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG's subsidiary, HD Advanced Technologies GmbH (HDAT), and PHENOGY AG have announced a strategic partnership focusing on sodium-ion battery storage. This collaboration aims to form a European platform to accelerate sodium-ion technology to market, reducing reliance on non-European supply chains.
HD Advanced Technologies will manage the industrial manufacturing for PHENOGY, including procurement, production, and maintenance of energy storage systems. Additionally, both companies are progressing towards a joint venture dedicated to developing and producing sodium-ion battery cells using PHENOGY’s chemistry and HEIDELBERG's printing process.
The initiative seeks to enhance Europe’s capacity for self-sufficient industrial battery manufacturing. This agreement enables PHENOGY to advance cell chemistry and design while bringing these technologies to market more quickly.
