Jaguar Health Advances Crofelemer Trial for MVID Treatment

Jaguar Health, Inc. has announced the progression of its pivotal clinical trial of crofelemer for Microvillus Inclusion Disease (MVID) with Intestinal Failure (IF). All randomized pediatric patients will participate in the single-blind extension phase, receiving blinded doses of crofelemer. This trial, conducted in various global locations, is a step towards the company's plan to file a New Drug Application (NDA) by mid-2027.

MVID is an ultrarare pediatric disorder requiring lifelong parenteral nutrition due to inadequate nutrient absorption. While supportive, this treatment has serious, sometimes fatal complications. Jaguar's Napo Pharmaceuticals focuses on developing crofelemer as adjunctive therapy to parenteral support (PS) for such conditions.

Initial investigations have shown that long-term crofelemer use can lower PS requirements significantly without major side effects. Jaguar's IF program, which includes a Phase 2 study in short bowel syndrome with IF (SBS-IF), aims to achieve clinical milestones essential for non-dilutive funding strategies with licensee partners.
