Johnson Controls Launches Heat Pumps for Energy-Intensive Industries

Johnson Controls International has unveiled its Sabroe HitemHP line of industrial high-temperature heat pumps. These units aim to help European industries requiring high-temperature process heat to electrify and decarbonize without sacrificing performance. The new heat pumps promise energy efficiency up to three times greater than electric boilers and could cut energy costs by more than 91%, CO₂ emissions by up to 82%, and water costs by 30% when combined with waste heat from refrigeration plants.

The pumps can produce output temperatures of up to 122°C and use natural refrigerants to meet future EU regulations. Equipped with advanced compressor technology, they offer high performance even at low loads, extending service intervals by 50%. These features make them particularly suitable for industries like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and food processing, where traditional fossil fuel systems have faced challenges.

The HitemHP range, manufactured at Johnson Controls' facility in Denmark, promises operational flexibility and uses future-proof refrigerants like butane. Its design reduces lead times and installation complexity. With this launch, Johnson Controls continues its role as a pioneer in heat pump technology, contributing to significant reductions in operational costs and environmental impact for energy-intensive industries.
