Banff Half Marathon Emphasizes Climate Action with Karbon-X Collaboration

Karbon-X Corp. and the Banff Half Marathon have finalized the emissions assessment for the 2025 race. This highlights the event's environmental accountability in global endurance sports. The Banff Half Marathon, held in Banff National Park, collaborates with BrightSpot Climate and Karbon-X to assess their carbon footprint.

The 2025 race measured emissions from various sources such as travel, utilities, and operations, totaling 1,616 tonnes of CO2e. Karbon-X helped offset these emissions using verified carbon credits from sustainable projects. This aligns with Banff's ecological values, emphasizing renewable energy and emissions reduction.

The marathon's Responsible Transportation Plan further supports sustainability, featuring organized transport options to reduce congestion. As a participant in the UNFCCC's Sports for Climate Action network, the event commits to halving its emissions by 2030, showcasing a proactive approach to climate responsibility.
