Kontron AIS Secures Key Rail Yard Upgrade Contract in Belgium

Kontron, an IoT technology leader, has won a significant software contract for the modernization of Antwerp's rail yard in Belgium. This project involves collaboration with Cegelec Infra Technics. The contract, worth millions, was awarded following an international tender, marking Kontron AIS's success against various competitors.

The upgrade focuses on improving automation systems for train formation at Antwerp North, Europe's second-largest marshalling yard. This modernization project includes replacing outdated systems to ensure future-ready, reliable operations. Using YardLynx, Kontron AIS will handle the renewal of route and brake control systems, enhancing operational safety.

Set to be completed by 2028, this project reflects Kontron AIS's growing footprint in European railway infrastructure, underlining the rising importance of robust digitalization solutions in public transportation.
