M2care and ZEISS Ventures Back Maculaser for Retinal Laser Therapy

M2care and ZEISS Ventures have announced their support for Maculaser Oy, a Finnish medtech firm developing an innovative, temperature-controlled retinal laser therapy. This undisclosed investment aims to help Maculaser progress towards clinical validation and commercial readiness.

Maculaser, founded in 2020 at Aalto University, has patented a technology that offers precise, real-time temperature control during non-damaging laser treatments, targeting retinal diseases like AMD and DME. Present treatment options are invasive and costly, which the new approach may mitigate by enabling early-stage interventions.

With M2care’s and ZEISS’s backing, Maculaser will focus on moving toward first-in-human studies. Both financial and strategic support from these ventures promise to accelerate the pathway towards innovative solutions in eye health, potentially transforming patient care.
