Namibia Critical Metals Forms Strategic Joint Venture with Japan
Namibia Critical Metals Inc. has announced the completion of a significant milestone in its partnership with Japan. The Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security and Toyota Tsusho Corporation have formed TJ Namibia Rare Earths Corporation. This new special purpose company now holds a 50% stake in the Lofdal Heavy Rare Earth Project following a C$23 million investment. The transaction has received conditional approval from relevant bodies, including TSX Venture Exchange and NCMI shareholders.
The partnership ushers in a transition to non-dilutive pre-Final Investment Decision funding. This strategic financing ensures that Namibia Critical Metals maintains its ownership interest while the project progresses toward completion of the Definitive Feasibility Study and beyond. Key activities include permitting, detailed engineering, and more. This structure effectively lowers financial risk, thereby bolstering the potential for future development.
Adding Toyota Tsusho to the venture further reinforces Japan's strategy for establishing secure supply chains for essential minerals. The Lofdal Project's focus on heavy rare earth elements critical for technology sectors emphasizes its strategic global importance.
