Nordic Semiconductor Launches Enhanced Battery Monitoring Solution for IoT Devices

Nordic Semiconductor has unveiled Nordic Fuel Gauge v2.0, an advanced upgrade to its software-based fuel gauge solution. This development, introduced at Embedded World 2026 in Nuremberg, offers precise State-of-Health reporting, adaptive battery modeling, and extensive fleet analytics. It aims to enhance reliability and sustainability in IoT devices, aiding compliance with regulations like the EU Batteries Regulation 2023/1542.

Fuel Gauge v2.0 integrates with Nordic's nRF Cloud, powered by Memfault, enabling automatic reporting of battery metrics. This allows for efficient monitoring and optimization by engineering teams without the need for custom cloud infrastructure. The upgraded solution builds on previous accuracy, offering a model adaptive to battery aging, thus reducing system costs and conserving power.

The new solution is in beta and will be generally available by June 2026. It will be showcased at Embedded World 2026, highlighting its real-time battery-health reporting capabilities.
