Middle River Power and PowerTransitions Enhance US Grid Capacity

The power platforms Middle River Power and PowerTransitions, acquired by Partners Group in 2025, are addressing US grid constraints by rapidly increasing power capacity. Over the past year, they have doubled their combined operating capacity to 4.8 GW, while their EBITDA has increased by more than 60%. This growth has been achieved by implementing a strategy of co-locating battery storage at legacy power plants, allowing for faster connection and improved grid reliability.

By redeveloping brownfield sites and adding battery storage to existing natural gas plants, these platforms have bypassed long interconnection queues. This approach has been applied to four plants in California, with further expansions underway. Additionally, PowerTransitions has secured transactions for 1.5 GW of capacity in New York and is augmenting this with 600 MW of battery storage.
