Lumibird secures a contract with Rheinmetall for Skyranger 30

The LUMIBIRD Group, a European specialist in laser technologies, announced that its subsidiary, Lumibird Photonics Sweden AB, has secured an order from Rheinmetall Air Defence. Lumibird's VIDAR laser rangefinders will be integrated into the Skyranger 30 air defense system for the Netherlands. While this contract is smaller in scope than those for 2025, it confirms Lumibird's long-term commitment to the Skyranger 30 program.

The contract, scheduled between 2026 and 2028, marks a significant milestone in the cooperation between Lumibird and Rheinmetall, solidifying Lumibird's position as a key supplier of laser technologies for defense. The VIDAR rangefinder, based on Erbium:glass technology, offers high accuracy on fast-moving targets.

Carina Harnesk, Managing Director of Lumibird Photonics Sweden, emphasizes Rheinmetall's confidence in Lumibird's solutions for critical defense applications. Marc Le Flohic, CEO of the group, adds that in-house component production guarantees quality and reliability for the defense sector.
