RBC Capital Markets Secures General Clearing Member Status

RBC Capital Markets has been granted General Clearing Member (GCM) status by European Commodity Clearing AG, a leading European energy and commodity market clearing house. This development allows RBC to clear and settle transactions for Non-Clearing Members, bolstering its European energy and commodities franchise. Clients will gain from enhanced market access and more resilient clearing solutions.

The GCM status empowers RBC to provide comprehensive clearing services across various domains, including power and gas futures, European Energy Exchange carbon auctions, and an extensive range of products via the EEX platform. RBC views this as a strategic enhancement to support market participants amidst Europe's evolving energy landscape.

Eric Aldous, global head of clearing services at RBC, stated that this move significantly expands RBC's service offerings, enabling better market access for participants. Brandon Everhardt, global head of commodities, highlighted the GCM status as an opportunity to support clients in managing risks and seizing opportunities within the energy transition.
