Safran Acquires Collins Aerospace's Flight Control Business
On July 21, 2025, Safran finalized the acquisition of Collins Aerospace's flight control and actuation activities. This move positions Safran as a global leader in these critical systems for both commercial and military aircraft, including helicopters. The acquisition spans eight main facilities in Europe and Asia, employing around 4,000 people, and contributed $1.55 billion in revenue in 2024.
Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, highlighted the opportunity to enhance their product range and technological capability. The acquisition complements Safran's existing strengths, notably in electro-mechanical actuation and electronics, aligning with industry shifts toward electrification and decarbonization.
Strategically, this acquisition broadens Safran's offerings across multiple aviation segments and promises recurring revenue from services. The expected synergies from combining Safran's and Collins' capabilities justify the $1.8 billion enterprise value, forecasting $50 million in annual cost synergies by 2028.
