Saint-Gobain Unveils First 100% Recycled Plasterboard in the UK
On January 16, 2025, Saint-Gobain announced the launch of its first plasterboard made entirely from recycled materials in the UK, a pioneering achievement for the Group. Named Gyproc SoundBloc Infinaé 100, the product signifies a significant move towards circularity in the construction industry. Developed by British Gypsum, a Saint-Gobain subsidiary, this plasterboard utilizes plaster waste from construction sites, integrating it into a sustainable production process.
Mike Chaldecott, CEO of Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland, stated that this innovation underscores their commitment to transforming the construction industry by offering solutions that address environmental challenges, promoting material recycling, and conserving natural resources. The initiative also includes a collection service for construction site materials, reinforcing their dedication to waste reduction in the supply chain.
This development is part of Saint-Gobain's strategy to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, aligning with its broader sustainability goals.
