Saint-Gobain Unveils Low-Carbon Insulation Plant in Finland
On June 4, 2025, Saint-Gobain announced the launch of a very low-carbon glass wool insulation plant in Forssa, Finland. The facility is powered entirely by decarbonized energy, utilizing biogas and hydroelectric power. This investment reinforces the company's commitment to low-carbon solutions in the construction industry.
The plant features three new pressurized biogas tanks, with biogas and hydroelectric power each supplying 50% of the site's energy. This initiative is expected to prevent 1,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. The products manufactured are projected to have a 30% to 40% lower carbon footprint over their lifecycle compared to conventional products.
Saint-Gobain aims to lead in providing sustainable construction solutions and is the largest user of recycled glass in Finland, incorporating 80% recycled materials in its products. This aligns with the company's strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
