Cosine and Siltronic Partner for NewAthena Space Telescope

Cosine, a leader in space instrumentation, has joined forces with Siltronic AG, a top wafer manufacturer, to advance the NewAthena space telescope. This collaboration aims to supply ESA's next-gen observatory with cutting-edge X-ray optics. Siltronic provides high-quality 300 mm silicon wafers, essential for creating Silicon Pore Optics, a crucial component of NewAthena’s mirror system.

The NewAthena telescope, developed under ESA’s Cosmic Vision program, is set to be the largest X-ray telescope constructed. It will explore the universe's energetic phenomena, from black holes to galaxy clusters, using advanced SPO technology reliant on defect-free wafer materials. This collaboration highlights the precision and innovation at the core of the project, paving the way for unparalleled cosmic discoveries.
