Sintana Energy Begins 3D Seismic Acquisition in Uruguay
Sintana Energy Inc. has announced the commencement of its 3D seismic acquisition campaign in AREA OFF-1, located offshore Uruguay. The survey, conducted by contractor Viridien with the BGP Prospector vessel, covers approximately 4,300 km2. The acquisition will occur over two seasons: February-April 2026 and November 2026-April 2027. Fast-track results are expected by Q4 2026, with full results by Q2 2027.
Sintana Energy holds a 40% interest in the AREA OFF-1 block, with Chevron Corporation holding 60%. The project follows court rejections of interventions by activist groups, highlighting the thorough preparatory work and Uruguay's robust environmental procedures.
Robert Bose, CEO of Sintana, expressed enthusiasm for this milestone. The seismic acquisition will aid in exploring Uruguay's offshore potential, supported by Sintana's partnership with Chevron.
