SMX and RedWave Achieve Milestone in Plastic Recycling

SMX (Security Matters) PLC and RedWave completed successful proof-of-concept trials with NAFRA and A*Star, demonstrating effective recycling of food-grade, flame-retardant, and carbon black plastics. These trials represent a significant advancement toward establishing industry standards for plastic traceability.

By embedding molecular markers into materials, SMX aims to increase recycled content in plastics and create a blockchain-backed digital passport ecosystem, enabling full traceability from raw material to recycling.

The trials showcased SMX's capability to sort complex plastics with RedWave's detection systems. The technology could transform plastic waste into a certifiable commodity, ensuring it re-enters supply chains with trusted quality and compliance.
