STMicroelectronics and Tobii launch innovative indoor sensing technology

STMicroelectronics and Tobii announce the start of series production of an advanced interior sensing system. Designed for a premium European car manufacturer, the system aims to improve driver and passenger monitoring using a single camera optimized for day and night.

This technology combines STMicroelectronics' VD1940 image sensors with Tobii's expertise in attention computing. It enables wide-angle coverage of the cabin, improving the user experience and vehicle safety standards.

The system uses algorithms to process video streams for driver and passenger monitoring. This solution, already present on more than 160 vehicle models, embodies an integrated and cost-effective approach for the automotive industry.
