Swiss Life Reports Strong First Half of 2026 Results Amid Planned Job Reductions

Swiss Life Holding AG has announced a successful first half of 2026, with an 8% increase in net profit totaling CHF 649 million. Profit from operations also rose by 8% to CHF 967 million in local currency, driven by a strong fee result of CHF 430 million, which grew by 11% in local currency. The company reported a return on equity of 20.2%, an improvement from 17.6% in the previous period.

Premiums grew by 3% in local currency, amounting to CHF 12.3 billion, while fee income increased by 7% to CHF 1.34 billion. Despite these positive results, Swiss Life plans to cut around 600 positions by 2028, citing a focus on growth and efficiency. Half of these reductions will occur in Switzerland.

The company's "Swiss Life 2027" program remains on track, aiming to achieve over CHF 1 billion in fee results by 2027. A new share buyback program of CHF 250 million is also set to launch soon, following a previous CHF 750 million buyback completion.
