Technip Energies Wins Major EPC Contract for Mumbai Refinery
Technip Energies has secured a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). The project focuses on the Mumbai Refinery's modernization in Maharashtra, India. This contract involves constructing a 550 KTA Integrated Hydrocracker and Catalytic Dewaxing unit and an 850 KTA Solvent Deasphalting unit.
The initiative aims to enhance HPCL's production of lube oil base stocks, essential for automotive and industrial lubricants. Additionally, it seeks to convert heavier refinery streams into higher-value products, boosting resource efficiency and the long-term competitiveness of the refinery. As India modernizes its refining infrastructure, this project plays a crucial role in meeting the country's growing fuel demand.
Loïc Chapuis of Technip Energies underscores the project's importance, highlighting the long-standing relationship with HPCL and the company's expertise in refinery modernization. This award, valued between €250 million and €500 million, demonstrates confidence in Technip Energies' capabilities in executing complex projects.
