Thai Night Cannes 2026: Thailand reinvents itself as a global player in creative content

On May 22, 2026, "Thai Night Cannes" showcased Thailand's transformation into a strategic partner in the creative content sector. Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Thai Ministry of Commerce, the event took place during the Cannes Film Festival under the theme "Reimagining Thailand." This gathering highlighted Thailand's evolution from a filming destination to a creator of diverse and globally appealing original content.

Chaired by Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi, the event highlighted Thailand's rich culture and creativity. By 2025, the country had hosted 546 international productions, contributing significantly to the local economy. This momentum is fueled by attractive financial incentives and a diverse range of filming locations. The film "Confessions of a Shaman," presented this year, garnered considerable interest from industry professionals, further enhancing the international profile of Thai cinema. The 170th anniversary of Franco-Thai relations was also celebrated, underscoring the country's strong cultural ties.
