A European Patent for Batten-1 Strengthens its Protection

THX Pharma and the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation announce the granting of a European patent for the use of Batten-1 in juvenile Batten disease. This patent protects the use of miglustat, the active ingredient in Batten-1, until 2041. Extending to 38 states, it complements other protections, including formulation patents and orphan drug designations in Europe and the United States.

This patent is the result of research conducted by Baylor College of Medicine and Cardiff University. It reinforces THX Pharma's strategy to secure long-term exclusivity for Batten-1 by combining patent protections and orphan drug regulations.
