Tishman Speyer Secures $300 Million for Korea Living Venture

Tishman Speyer has announced the first closing of its Korea Living Venture (KLV), securing $300 million in equity commitments from APG Asset Management and Bouwinvest. This fund is aimed at acquiring and developing multifamily and accommodation properties in Seoul. The initiative is focused on Korea's burgeoning rental housing market, considered one of the fastest-growing in Asia.

KLV is targeting $400 million in total equity commitments, translating to an $800 million investment capacity with financing included. The strategy focuses on locations near key transportation hubs in Seoul and its high-growth neighborhoods. APG and Bouwinvest, major players in real estate investment, are partnering with Tishman Speyer leveraging their expertise in institutional investments.

The fund's approach targets existing properties with potential for value enhancement and some new development projects. This aligns with the increasing rental demand driven by socio-economic shifts in Korea, such as increased housing costs and rising numbers of single-person households.
