Transgene to Unveil TG-MVA Vaccine Data at Infectious Diseases Congress

Transgene is set to present new preclinical data on its TG-MVA prophylactic vaccine candidates at the World Congress on Infectious Diseases in Barcelona. The TG-MVA vaccine, based on Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) technology, targets mpox and smallpox. Notably, TG-MVACEF and TG-MVACL have shown protective effects against Monkeypox virus (MPXV) in various models. TG-MVACL, considered a promising candidate for human trials, allows for scalable production, potentially addressing current vaccine supply challenges.

The vaccine is intended to meet a biosecurity need against Orthopoxvirus diseases, like mpox, while ensuring availability during pandemics. The oral presentation will detail survival outcomes, immune responses, and vaccine safety in animal trials. This development will augment Transgene’s expertise in viral vector technologies from its myvac® platform, known for therapeutic cancer vaccines. Options to further advance TG-MVA are being evaluated.
