VINCI Secures Major Waste Treatment Plant Renovation Near Paris
VINCI Construction and Suez have been awarded a €237 million contract to renovate the Romainville-Bobigny waste treatment plant in Seine-Saint-Denis, located north-east of Paris. Chantiers Modernes Construction, a VINCI Construction subsidiary, will oversee €208 million of the renovation project.
The project, commencing in March 2026 and spanning 39 months, includes the construction of a new facility to manage household waste routing and the conversion of an existing structure into a biowaste transfer station. A river freight port will also be constructed, facilitating the transport of over 165,000 tonnes of waste annually by barge.
Environmental measures will be prioritized, such as noise and dust reduction, soil remediation, and biodiversity protection. By 2029, the renovated site aims to process 40,000 tonnes of biowaste annually while decreasing its carbon footprint by utilizing river-based freight.
