Waga Energy and Casella Waste Systems Launch RNG Facility in New York

On May 14, 2026, Waga Energy and Casella Waste Systems inaugurated a new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility at Chemung County Landfill, New York. The facility, operational since January, marks a significant step for Casella in resource development from waste.

Using Waga Energy's patented WAGABOX® technology, the plant converts landfill gas into RNG, injected directly into Valley Energy’s network. It's designed to produce up to 610,000 MMBtu of gas annually, preventing over 47,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.

Waga Energy solely funded and will operate the facility for 20 years, sharing RNG sales revenue with Casella. This partnership emphasizes collaboration in sustainable energy, highlighting potential in waste resource conversion.
