Waga Energy and LRS partner to produce biomethane in Atkinson, Illinois

Waga Energy, a specialist in biogas valorization, will install a biomethane production unit at the Eco-Hill site in Atkinson, Illinois. This site, owned by Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), uses WAGABOX® technology to transform gas from waste into renewable energy.

The facility has a processing capacity of 4,800 m³/h of raw gas, enabling the production of 180 GWh of biomethane per year. This green gas will replace fossil natural gas, reducing CO2 emissions by 47,500 tonnes annually. The partnership includes the construction, operation, and marketing of the biomethane by Waga Energy, with revenues shared with Eco-Hill. Commissioning is scheduled for 2028.
