Waga Energy Secures CA$15M for Quebec RNG Project
Waga Energy received CA$15M from Quebec's Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy for its renewable natural gas (RNG) project in Hébertville-Station. The funding supports constructing an RNG unit at the site managed by the Lac-Saint-Jean waste authority. This aligns with Quebec's plan to include 10% RNG in its gas network by 2030.
The project uses Waga's WAGABOX® technology to convert landfill biogas into RNG, potentially serving 2,900 households and reducing CO₂ emissions by 9,400 metric tons annually. The purified biogas will feed into Énergir's gas network, shifting away from fossil fuels.
This is Waga Energy’s fifth Canadian RNG project, with others operational in Quebec and British Columbia. CEO Julie Flynn expressed gratitude for government support, highlighting mutual efforts toward energy transition.
