Nebius Launches Major AI Project in Independence, Missouri

Nebius, an AI cloud company, began construction on a gigawatt-scale AI factory in Independence, Missouri, marking its first significant digital infrastructure investment in the US. With over 400 acres in eastern Independence, the project is expected to create over 1,000 jobs, including 1,200 construction jobs and 130 permanent positions.

This project aims to generate $650 million in tax revenue over 20 years, contributing to the local economy and education sectors. Governor Mike Kehoe highlighted the initiative's role in reinforcing Missouri as a leader in digital infrastructure.

The project emphasizes sustainable practices by minimizing environmental impacts. Nebius has committed to education and local investments, marked by a donation to eliminate school meal debts and a partnership with Metropolitan Community College.
