ZCCM-IH Announces Gold Mining Project with MMR in Zambia
ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH) has announced a partnership with the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development and Mining Mineral Resources SAS (MMR) for a gold exploration project in the Kikonge area of Mufumbwe District, Zambia. This collaboration marks a strategic move for ZCCM-IH as it seeks to develop the Kikonge Mining Tenement and establish gold processing facilities.
The joint venture will see ZCCM-IH holding a majority of 51% shares, while MMR holds 49%. The project aims to integrate artisanal and small-scale mining into the formal economy, improve local refining capacity, and ensure a sustainable gold value chain. Key initiatives include infrastructure development and skills training for local communities.
The collaboration is positioned to benefit the Zambian economy by enhancing local gold refining capabilities and supporting socio-economic development through corporate social responsibility programs.
