ZPMC Constructs Key Infrastructure for China's Pioneering Offshore Wind Project

China General Nuclear Power Group's (CGN) Fanshi offshore wind project, situated off the coast of Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, is now fully operational. It marks China's inaugural deployment of 18 MW offshore wind turbines at scale, supported by infrastructure from ZPMC. The project includes significant contributions such as two offshore substations and a reactive power compensation station, a first for China, enhancing the stability of long-distance electricity transmission.

The wind farm comprises two 1 GW sections, with turbines reaching up to 53 meters in depth and 81 kilometers offshore. It features 131 turbines, including 33 new 18 MW turbines, the largest used in China.

ZPMC's 500 kV station mitigates voltage loss and helps maintain grid stability, crucial for transmitting large amounts of power. The project aims to generate over 6.6 billion kWh annually, significantly reducing coal usage and CO2 emissions.
